Mindfulness Stress Reduction Course
MBSR is an 8-week evidence-based, experiential program designed to provide participants with intensive and systematic training in mindfulness meditation and movement practices while cultivating the ability to integrate these practices into daily life experiences. Our programs are based on the 8 week MBSR programs as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 that incorporate western medical approaches with ancient contemplative practices. The slightly shortened format is designed to accommodate Zoom instruction. The instructor has completed trainings led by Jon Kabat-Zinn and staff through the UMASS Center for Mindfulness as an MBSR facilitator. MBSR has been researched over 40 years and consistently shows research supported outcomes associated with increased self-awareness, stress resilience and enhanced overall life quality. In addition, outcomes have included reductions in symptoms for health conditions such as anxiety, depression, chronic stress, chronic pain, sleep disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, and hypertension.
