Natural Awakenings Coastal Carolinas

Special Movie Screening of Tidal Alert

Save the date for Saturday, January 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to attend a Green Sanctuary Committee (GSC)-hosted showing of the documentary movie Tidal Alert, which presents the status of our coastal waters from several perspectives and offers suggestions for ensuring clean
water going forward at Unitarian Coastal Fellowship (UCF), in Morehead City.

The event will include a seafood lunch and a panel discussion with local stakeholders. The GSC is dedicated to creating a religious community that has a fundamental commitment to living in harmony with the Earth. They do this by planning monthly events for their congregation and the community that focus on the environment through a combination of service projects, educating
and advocating for environmental justice, and field trips.

The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) awards Green Sanctuary status to congregations that have completed a rigorous self-assessment, proposed a plan and complete projects. UCF was awarded certification as a UUA Green Sanctuary in April 2015 and has strived to achieve the
UUA goal of “a Unitarian Universalist culture that is characterized by bold, collaborative, urgent, effective, action to mitigate the climate crisis, build resilience and adaption to climate change, and secure environmental and climate justice.” With the guidance of the GSC, in July 2017, UCF approved a Statement of Conscience condemning the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement.

Location: 2900 Bridges St. For more information and admission cost, call 252-240-2283 or visit UCFNC.org.
