Techniques (NAET), a safe, natural, drug-free and non-invasive treatment discovered by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad for diagnosed and undiagnosed allergies that can cause headaches, sinusitis, hives, backaches, joint pain, PMS, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic cough and other ailments, triggered by food, natural elements and more. Other symptoms of undiagnosed man-made and natural irritants can be asthma, addiction, anxiety and depression.

“NAET is amazing,” he enthuses, having first provided it when he was practicing in Montana seven years ago and then at his first location in Wilmington in the Mayfair area in 2016. “We provide chiropractic, blood-work, stool testing, and treat many conditions including thyroid and IBS, all without heavy pharmaceuticals. Yet, NAET has added another important functional element to make us even more of a true natural medicine clinic.”

Some of the more common food allergies include eggs, milk, wheat and nuts while natural-borne culprits can be grass, rag, mold, pollen, flowers and trees. Dog dander can aggravate owners as well.

“Someone may be drinking orange juice regularly and not know how it reacts in the body,” he says.
Further, relocating to any area and other factors can be catalysts. “Someone from another region may be sensitive to our native plants and trees and not know it. Also, we’ve had a lot of mold and pollen from recent hurricanes and flooding that can also cause reactions.”

NAET treatments feature kinesiology muscle testing with 13 basic essential nutrients—including vitamin B and C, calcium and salt—that pinpoint and desensitize the body’s reaction to what is aggravating it.

After treatment, a strong Neuromuscular Sensitivity Testing result indicates that the allergy has been desensitized. Specific acupressure points are then stimulated with a low-level laser to stabilize the treatment. The substance must then be completely avoided for the next 25 hours for best results. Allergens are treated and cleared one at a time in a specific sequence. Normally, only one item is treated on a given day.

Dr. Buffalino estimates that “85 percent show dramatic improvements in their conditions after undergoing NAET treatments.” He points to one patient who had been getting weekly injections for allergies for 43 years and now doesn’t need to.

“She told us she had been having chronic allergies. ‘You name it, I was allergic to it,’ she said. She was also taking nasal sprays, antihistamines and decongestants constantly. She had trouble sleeping as well. After the NAET treatments, she has been able to eliminate the antihistamines and decongestants and no longer goes for injections.”

Dr. Buffalino also described how a patient with an adult-onset allergy to peppers that plagued him for eight years was able to resume eating the vegetable with no side effects after several weeks of undergoing NAET treatments.

Approximately 20,000 doctors worldwide are currently trained in this technique, including M.D.s, DOs and DCs. 

As for his chiropractic care, Dr. Buffalino notes there’s been a growing realization and acceptance of the many health benefits of the modality, including reductions in headaches, neck, midback and lower back pain; numbness and tingling in hands and feet; improved mobility, cognition and

“In the office, we perform multiple techniques for spinal treatment,” he says. “We offer gentle yet effective treatment using the Activator Method.”

A graduate of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and a certified Activator Instrument Adjuster, Dr. Buffalino also previously treated patients in New York. Along with NAET treatments, he also provides kinesiology muscle testing, combined with other methods of diagnoses, to help evaluate structural, chemical and neurological aspects of health.
